Anthony Joshua Discharged from Medical Facility in Nigeria Following Fatal Car Crash

Olympic gold medalist Anthony Joshua has been released from care, officials in Lagos confirmed on Wednesday night. The fighter was part of a serious road collision in the Lagos area on the 29th of December, a devastating event that resulted in the deaths of two of his close associates.

Healing from Light Wounds

The boxer had remained in the hospital while healing from his light wounds, representatives confirmed on Monday. The Lagos state commissioner for information, Gbenga Omotoso, said in a statement on X that Joshua was deemed clinically fit to “recuperate at home”.

“Joshua and his mother were at the funeral home in Lagos this afternoon to pay their final respects to his two departed friends as they were being made ready for the journey back,” the official remarked.

A Tribute to the Fallen

The victims of the crash were confirmed to be Latif Ayodele, a personal trainer, and Sina Ghami, a performance coach. The official further stated that the boxer was “heavy-hearted and full of emotions over the loss of his two close friends.”

His release from the hospital follows the sports world had expressed sympathy for the fighter in the wake of the heartbreaking incident.
