FC Barcelona Set to Play Inaugural Match at Upgraded Camp Nou this Saturday

The club confirmed their first game will take place at the partially upgraded Camp Nou over the weekend. They will welcome Athletic Bilbao in the Spanish league 30 months since relocating so building work could begin.

“We envisioned this comeback. The moment has arrived. Home again at Spotify Camp Nou.”

Not all seats will be available but 45,401 spectators can be present as per the current authorization. After final construction, the stadium’s capacity will reach close to 105,000 fans, increasing from the former 99,000. Officials confirmed completed upgrades featured an updated entryway for the team along with upgraded changing facilities.

Stadium Testing

The club conducted a public practice at the Camp Nou in early November. The club said approval is being pursued from European football’s governing body to play their next home Champions League game against Eintracht Frankfurt next month at the stadium. Their recent games have been held at the Olympic Stadium.
